Symptoms or Error
It may be that the installation won’t start, it seems to freeze during the installation, or it never seems to complete. The two primary causes are; attempting to install on a Mac that Catalina doesn’t support, or trying to install Catalina on a Mac with limited storage space. Supported Macs: Most Macs from 2012 or later support macOS.

- While the upgrade process to Catalina is fairly straightforward — you’ll find the update in Apple’s Mac App Store — some users have reported issues with being able to download the update.

Solution
Mac apfs repair apps. To resolve this issue, complete the following steps:

- Check the Computer Name field. If it is blank, type a computer name for the machine so that a license can be assigned to it.

Problem Cause
Because the Mac devices does not have a registry like Windows devices, a license must be issued to the client devices name. If the device does not have a name, it cannot be issued a license. It attempts to assign a license to a null value, and the session drops.
